The 4th annual Fired-Up Gala

The 4th annual Fired-Up Gala took place March 6th at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel to support the vital work done by The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) Burn & Plastics Program.

Gala founder Roxy Zapala discovered the program as her own 21 month son Levi suffered 3rd degree burns to his body. From that day on her family has presented this gala as a major fundraiser for SickKids and as a platform to remind parents that “it only takes a minute” for everyday practices in the kitchen or bathroom to terribly scar a child . A bath too hot, something boiling on the stove unattended. These are the most usual causes for over 400 children being rushed to SickKids each year.

Serious work yes and the turn-out was large for the Fired-Up experience. Performer, choreographer, Paul Gordon was very classy in his tux singing and dancing to the songs made famous by Darin, Sinatra and Martin as guests walked the welcome red carpet.

Following dinner, a regular highlight of this gala was the popular fashion show followed by headline performer Armado who really packed the dance floor until it was time to call it a night much later.

Thanks to Roxy Zapala and SickKids for my invitation to attend once more.
