War Child Founder and President, Dr. Samantha Nutt reminded us that those living in war torn countries like Uganda, Afghanistan, Yeman and others horribly devistated need the services of War Child now more than ever.
All proceeds from the gala will enable children to return to schools, also empower families with the tools they need to escape poverty. There is a crucial need in protecting survivors of sexual and gender based violence to women and children by offering legal council and support as well.
This evening War Child celebrated the impact of 3 Humanitarian Leaders. 25 years in the making.
Recipients were; Margaret Atwood with The Changemaker Award, Stephen Smith with The Philanthropy Award and finally The Founder’s Award went to Denise Donlon who 25 years ago saw the need along with Dr. Samantha Nutt to help these refugee children and their families.
Ending on a high note, , it was Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor of Blue Rodeo wrapping up the gala with all the hits we know and love well to close out the night.
Thanks to Bassett Events and War Child Canada for the invitation this night.
