The 8th Annual Healing Voice Within Gala took place October 8th as their signature fundraising event held the Liberty Grand.
Who would have known that Sergent Kerry Shmidt of OPP Highway Safety Division could be such an accomplished emcee. He was in for a busy evening.
The Gatehouse continues to be a safe space for survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Keynote Speaker Tara Maclean is an acclaimed singer, songwriter and recently a best-selling author and playwright. She draws from a personal experience of abuse in the words she sings and writes about. Tara performed, but first spoke to us about the collective effort within The Gatehouse to give every survivor a voice and support through transformative programs and safe spaces for healing and hope.
Lots was happening as figurative painter Loi Penfold,
known for art therapy, created a live painting to be included in the silent auction while violinist Lara St. John took to the stage for a rousing set of performances.All in all, this was an inspiring evening for supporters and advocates alike.
